Whether it be physically, geographically or spiritually, move in faith and with gratitude.

“As I look back on my own life, I recognize this simple truth: The greatest opportunities were the scariest lions. Part of me has wanted to play it safe, but I’ve learned that taking no risks is the greatest risk of all.” ― Mark Batterson, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day: How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars

I was reminded of this image recently. I had placed it as the screen background on my Dad’s iMac, in his home office in South Carolina. I had become use to seeing it so much I started to forget about that moment when I captured the scene, last October in the tall grass prairie at Sugarcreek MetroPark near Dayton. A few days ago my sister-in-law was commenting and asking about it. Like most in my family she has an eye for visual art. “It’s very calming, peaceful.” I hear that a lot about my photographs.

I’m thankful for those moments and places when I just simply become lost in the light and I’m reminded “who I am.” All of us deserve our places of peace. No fear. No control. No manipulation. No deal-making. Just to simply be at peace, be who we were meant to be and when things become overwhelming to just let it go and give it to God.

This is what keeps me going. This.
