Autumn Nightfall on the Ridge on Flickr.
Rediscovering the peace of sacred places. Part of the joy of photography is taking a little bit of each image with us wherever we go. Whether the images are “liked,” sell as prints, published, win awards, etc, what matters most is that they serve as bread crumbs and trail markers that always lead us back to special places. Perhaps not so much on the map but the moments of peace that remain within the heart.

Distant Season Winter Memory on Flickr.Fear creeps in and settles within the worn recesses of the mind - a mind that has been tricked and tripped for so long by the false facade of ego and the anxious reach of the fearful who can’t resist the trampling of the open and gentle heart. It is the promise of forgiveness, carried on the wings of the grateful spirit, where hope in the eternal will always, always persevere. The command to body and heart - now matter how bruised and beaten - is simple. Do not give up. Do not give up.

Every path we follow - every experience - becomes a part of who we are. I’m grateful of the far greater treasures of the paths of today and all those who’ve journeyed with me on the trails within the heart through the seasons of the spirit.

The ties that bind, but in a good way. I have a 30”x40” wrapped canvas print of this image of a Celtic cross, an image that I captured a few years back in the Woodland Cemetery of Dayton, Ohio. I didn’t think it would play such a prominent role in how my new home on Hilton Head Island would be decorated. My sister, who has an amazing talent for style and decorating, zeroed-in on this print right away and proceeded to arrange all the other elements around it, resulting in a home environment that is much, much more than I could ever hope for. It is a place of natural peace for the creative soul.
The love of nature and the creative spirit of the Ancient Celts runs deep in my family. It’s a part of who we are. It’s what moves me to do what I do. It is a blessing we share.
